As part of efforts to boost technical Education in Delta State, Nigeria and Africa, and commemorate the World Peace day, a reputable Non- Governmental Organization, Peace, Health, Environment, Water PHEW Foundation International has from 19th- 21st of September, 2019 trained over 40 youths from the 45 Communities of Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
This was disclosed to our reporter yesterday at Otor- Udu the Local Government quarters by the Founder/ CEO of the Foundation, Engr. Uche Queen Chigbo.
The UNIPORT graduate of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and plant Manager, NBTC Stated that the program comprises of theoretical class, where each participants were exposed to all types of renewable energy with more emphasis on solar technology.
PHEW Foundation Boss also affirmed that the trainees, youths participants were exposed to the harm fossil fuel use that poses danger to the environment.
In her Words: “What the world is doing is to reduce d use of fossil fuel. And how renewable energy is an emerging new market which they need to key into to be relevant in the future for the maintenance and installation of renewable energy”.
“They were also encouraged not to put money first in what they do but knowledge and service which will earn them more”.
“The youths were taught different components of solar system, how to identity good products, how to prepare quotation and how to do the installation. At the end of the Program the participants were able to do Electrical connections themselves”.
Engr. Chigbo stated further that the participants were exposed to leadership training where they were encouraged to be problems solvers, to seek after knowledge, because knowledge alleviates poverty.
Engr. Chigbo while calling on the Federal Government to discontinue coal power generating plant for renewable energy, commended the trainers, other resource persons who groomed the Youths on renewable energy Technical Education in both theory and practice.
She also Commended the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government, Hon. Jite Brown, Chevron Nigeria Limited on their supports, as well as Dr. Gerald .N. Okeke, Mr. Sam dede, who were different presenters on Climate Change, Climate action for Peace to commemorate the World peace day.
